Happy Mardi Gras!!! My outfit today is inspired by Mardi Gras.  Mardi Gras colors are gold, green, and purple.  I tried to bring all the Mardi Gras colors together in a sophisticated way –  the yellow dress and gold accessories, the green statement necklace, purple lips, and the beaded clutch!!   See what I did there?? Haha.  Well, I think it was clever.  I thought of this as a Project Runway type challenge – create a look inspired by Mardi Gras.  I imagined Tim Gunn in my ear telling me to make it work!!  So that’s what I did. Lol. The yellow dress is from Asos and it’s only $19!

Have you ever been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans (aka “Nola”)??  If not, it’s something you should experience at least once in your life.   Last time I went to Mardi Gras was last year, and, as per usual, I had an amazing time.  It’s so funny how much effort it takes to get a bunch of beads just to discard them or tuck them away forever (fyi- nobody needs to show any body parts to get beads!!).  I wish I had made the trip this year.  I’ve been jealously looking at friends’ pics on Facebook and Instagram for days now.  It looks like everyone is having a blast!  If I was there right now, I would no doubt be recovering from a long weekend of parades and partying, but also preparing to go to the Zulu parade to get myself some Zulu coconuts!  The Zulu parade is my favorite!!  In case you don’t know, I used to live in Nola.   I moved to Nola right before Hurricane Katrina to attend law school.  Living in Nola through its rebuilding process was an incredible experience.  New Orleans definitely has a special place in my heart.  The people of New Orleans are resilient and boy do they know how to have FUN!!!  I had some of the best times of my life and met some of my best friends in Nola.   In future posts, I will likely talk more about life in Nola.  Have a very happy Mardi Gras, and enjoy the rest of your week!! Thanks so much for reading!!
