Staycation Life

This is what you see as you drive in…so pretty.  The flag on the right is a University of Houston flag!  I love that.    This is the room I stayed in.  My blogger friend, The Fashion Turner, stayed with me to keep me company.  The hotel kindly provided these snacks for me.  I enjoyed it all…particularly, the wine.  Lol.  This is a shot of the bar downstairs in the morning, which is why there are no drinks displayed and no patrons.  At night, the place is buzzing!  Dress: Forever 21 (in pink) // Shoes: Similar, Similar // Clutch: Nordstrom // Earrings: Similar, Similar The wind caught my dress just so in this pic! I went to the wedding of one of my friends who I’ve known since fourth grade on Saturday night and this is my wedding guest look! I love love love the sleeves.

Hi, Friends!!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was pretty good.  This year, one of my goals is better self-care and taking more time to rest.  On Saturday, I had the opportunity to relax and enjoy a staycation at the Royal Sonesta in Houston.

This beautiful hotel is located in the Galleria area, which is the perfect location for easy access to shopping and first class restaurants.  The Galleria area has always been one of my favorite areas in Houston. The hotel offers a shuttle that you can use for free to go anywhere within a 3-mile radius.  When I arrived at the hotel on Saturday, I was greeted by such friendly staff.  Melina checked me in at the front desk.  She was super sweet and promised to follow my blog.  Turns out she did!  Haha.  Hi, Melina!!  Thank you for being so kind!  After I checked in, Mike, one of the valets, took great care of my car, while Luis helped me carry my luggage up to my room.  They were both so helpful and welcoming.  Every time I saw them after that, they greeted me by name.

My room was lovely, as you can see above.  The hotel was kind enough to provide wine and snacks that were waiting for me.  As I started to munch on the crackers, the phone in my room rang and it was Patrick from guest services calling to make sure I had everything I needed. It was such a nice touch! I spoke to Patrick a couple of times, even before I arrived, and he was always very helpful.

After I finished munching on my snacks, I started to get ready for my friend Laura’s wedding!  When I first got into the bathroom, I saw only the handsoap, body lotion, and a shower cap (which I appreciated that it wasn’t something I needed to ask for).  I thought…what kind of place doesn’t have shampoo and conditioner too??  Haha, but then I saw they have dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower.  Well played, Royal Sonesta.  After I took a shower, I put on the robe provided by the hotel as I did my hair and makeup.  I love when a hotel provides robes.  It’s so convenient.  When I came back downstairs to leave for the wedding, Luis saw me and asked if I was leaving and went to the valet to have my car pulled up.  I was surprised he remembered my name and was able to do that without my valet ticket.  I felt special.

I headed to the wedding and had a blast!  I wore a dress from Forever 21 with the most amazing sleeve details.  I didn’t return from the wedding until pretty late at night, so I didn’t get a chance to hang out at the hotel bar.  I just enjoyed some wine in my room and went to sleep.  In the morning, I was excited to find that they had a PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans downstairs because I went to PJ’s all the time when I lived in New Orleans!!  It felt nostalgic for me.  I ordered a king cake latte and enjoyed it as I gave myself a tour of the grounds.

I took the first pic on the staircase near the ballroom area.  Digging my mixed prints?  It’s been awhile since I’ve worn Ankara on the blog.  All that’s about to change!  I love this blazer from SGTC clothing.  In the ballroom, there was some type of business meeting going on (who has a meeting on Sunday??), so snacks were set out and I was tempted to help myself. Lol.  But I didn’t. After that, I checked out bar area, the gym, and the pool.  Soon after, I checked out and headed back home to my regular life. Lol.  Thanks, Royal Sonesta for the experience.

Have a great week, and thanks so much for reading!!
