Hi, Friends!!! Apologies for my random posting schedule lately.  This is why it would behoove (love this word) you to SUBSCRIBE to the blog.  Then no matter when I decide to post, you’ll receive a notification!  Like I’ve mentioned in my last couple of posts, I have some really fun things coming to the blog soon and you don’t want to miss any of it!  I should be doing a giveaway next week, so stay tuned!!

Now on to my outfit for today and how I found the inspiration to create it.  Over the weekend, I was feeling really blah about my wardrobe. Do you ever get like that??  I had decided that my wardrobe was crap, and I had nothing to wear.   Meanwhile, I have a closet overflowing with clothes.  I know it’s ridiculous, but no matter how many clothes you have, I think everyone gets like that from time to time.  Sometimes you just feel uninspired.  Usually, my answer to such a feeling would be to shop and let the new items inspire me!!  Lol. But since I am on my self-imposed shopping ban (discussed here), I reminded myself that I need to make-do with what I have.  For me, when I am feeling uninspired, I start actively looking for inspiration!!

Inspiration can come from anywhere – the stylish passerby, celebrity style, Google images, Instagram, Pinterest, fashion blogs, etc.   I often browse images online looking for something I can try soon.  Sometimes I am inspired to buy a specific outfit or style something in a certain way or try a fun color combination, etc.  When I see things I like, I try to save pics of the looks (via screenshot or saving Google images or posts on Instagram or pinning/liking on Pinterest, etc) so when I am feeling uninspired, I refer to all the saved images for inspiration.  But if that doesn’t work or if I’m looking for something specific, then I often head over to Pinterest.  Pinterest is quickly becoming my favorite place to actively search for style inspiration.  It’s particularly helpful when I am looking for ideas on styling a specific item in my wardrobe.  Like for my look today,  I had decided that I wanted to wear my yellow pencil skirt (also seen here and here), but I couldn’t decide how I wanted to style it on this occasion.   I just searched “yellow pencil skirt” in Pinterest and there was inspiration galore.  And the great thing is that even if I don’t find a new and creative way to wear something, I might be reminded of an old and tried and true way to wear something that I just forgot about! For example, wearing a chambray top over a pencil skirt is not new to me.  I’ve even worn such a combination before on the blog (here).  But for whatever reason, it had not occurred to me to pair my yellow skirt with chambray….at least not yet and not on that day.  But there it was!  It was like a lightbulb went off!  And of course, it’s a fab combo.  After I was reminded of such a great, basic combination, the rest of the look came together.  I accessorized with my magazine clutch for added colors (you know how much I love color!), fun sunnies, my new favorite casual heels, and gold jewelry.  Thanks, Pinterest, for the inspiration!

I hope this post was at least a tiny bit helpful to you and perhaps offered some inspiration.  For more inspiration, you can also check out my SHOP page. I’ve been updating it with styles that I’m loving right now.  Have a great weekend, and thanks so much for reading!
