Hi, Friends and Sleevenistas! Have you ever had a hard time trying to figure out how to maximize your space? I definitely have! When I moved into my house, I knew that I wanted an office, but I didn’t want to lose the guest bedroom. So, I found the most perfect way to have an office and guest bedroom all in one place using a gorgeous Murphy bed. Keep reading to hear how I made both the bed and the decor work for both spaces!

The Murphy Bed

I couldn’t have made this space what it is without my Murphy bed! If you’re not familiar with Murphy beds, they are beds that are stored in a shelf or cabinet that can be flipped out and utilized or stowed away at your convenience. I am absolutely obsessed with the Murphy bed I purchased for this room. I love how the shelves look when closed and how they easily slide open to give access to the bed! It transitions so smoothly, and I had such a blast styling the shelves.  The shelves have functioning storage below that is an added bonus. This is a great place to store office supplies or items for your guests to use.

The main thing that sold me on a Murphy bed is how much space it saves. When the bed is stowed away, I have so much room to work. When I chose to make this room suitable for multiple uses, a Murphy bed was a no-brainer!

My Office Set-Up

When not utilizing this space as a guest bedroom, I wanted to make sure it looked like an official home office. When the Murphy bed is in use, I move my desk to the wall but when I’m working, I love how the desk looks in the middle of the room. Y’all know how much I love color, and since the shelves are white, I definitely wanted to add some color to the room! My rug is so colorful and fun, and I added additional color and textures to the shelves to add more dimension.  I bought most of my shelf decor from Target and Home Goods.  With faux plants, baskets, vases, picture frames, and books, I love how it turned out! I went with a more neutral desk but I love the gold accents. It’s classy and chic, and it compliments the rug beautifully!

I am so excited about how this space came together and how it functions so well as a guest bedroom and home office space.  It’s one of my favorite rooms! If you are unsure about how to utilize your spare bedroom, this is a great way to get multiple uses out of one space. If you’ve been thinking about getting a Murphy bed, this is your sign to take the leap and snag one. You won’t regret it! You’ll also have a blast styling the shelves and making it look gorgeous in your home! Have you ever considered getting a Murphy bed? What are your thoughts on them? Let me know below!

Have a great week, and thanks so much for reading!
